Easter weekend saw the worst seasonal weather recorded in 25 years… Perfect timing for Asthma UK’s Easter 10K and Junior 2K! A successful event is all about the energy and enthusiasm of its participants, and Easter Saturday proved that with these qualities you can overcome just about anything.
The conditions could hardly have been worse – freezing winds, hail and snow turned the usually serene Dorney Lake into a quagmire. The car park flooded, the children’s Easter egg hunt had to be rearranged and staff and volunteers endured a demanding time trying to keep the event on track.
It was long, hard work, but the hundreds who took part made it all worthwhile. Undaunted by the weather, runners arrived in their droves – many wearing lime green Asthma UK T-shirts and some in fancy dress.
With an age-range of three to 75, this really was an event enjoyed by all. Cheering supporters, smiling faces and inspirational stories cut through the gloom – and turned what could have been a washout into a truly memorable day. Thank you to everyone who took part.
If you were there, we’d love to hear your stories from the day. Reply to this post and tell us how it was for you!
